Games Life
-
You will sleep and hang out in what is called the Games Village. You will sleep on a cot, in a classroom with other participants from your sport or region at a school in Dauphin. You’ll need to bring a sleeping bag, pillow, and a towel. Washrooms will be nearby. No inflatable mattresses will be permitted in the village.
Security
The village is a secure location, monitored by security or host society volunteers 24 hours a day. Only those with proper accreditation will have access to the village.
Following the Responsible Coaching Movement, coaches and managers will stay throughout the villages in separate rooms from the athletes.
There is a 10 p.m. curfew and 11 p.m. lights out policy in place for all participants staying in Games accommodation. No one is allowed to leave Games accommodation after curfew, and anyone who misses curfew will be subject to disciplinary action.
-
You will have access to prepared, healthy meals that incorporate your dietary requirements so you can compete at your best during the Games.
Breakfast, lunch and dinner will be provided, along with snacks throughout the day. Depending on your sport schedule, you may be fed at your venue instead of the main food hall.
Food Allergies
If you have any food allergies or sensitivities, please ensure this information is captured in your online registration. The Games will be nut-free and shellfish-free!
You will have an extra symbol on your accreditation to help identify you to volunteers at the food venue. Please ensure you let your coach, manager, and Chef de Mission know about your allergy before Games. There will also be volunteers onsite to help you understand the menu.
Water Bottles
Reusable water bottles will be provided to participants at Games. There will be refill stations throughout the villages and sport venues. You should bring your own water bottle, too.
-
It is your responsibility to provide important medical information in your online registration.
Medical services are available 24/7 during the Games. There is a Polyclinic in the village that you can access if you get hurt or sick. Only those with Games accreditation will be allowed in the Polyclinic.
Medical services include:
On-site medical volunteers at all sport venues during practice and competition
Nurses, Physiotherapists and Athletic Therapists will be at the Polyclinic
Additional community service providers are available, including doctors, dentists, and optometrists, in the event of an emergency.
Stay Healthy!
With up to 2,000 people living, eating, and competing in close quarters at the Games, germs can spread quickly!
It is important you protect yourself and others from getting sick by washing your hands as often as possible, covering your mouth when coughing or sneezing, and using hand sanitizer.
-
You will receive a competitive uniform from your Provincial Sport Organization (PSO). Specific competitive uniform pieces will vary by sport and there may be an additional cost from the Provincial Sport Organization (PSO).
You will also receive a walkout uniform provided by Sport Manitoba once you arrive at the Games. The walkout uniform will consist of a T-shirt and bucket hat. These uniforms must be worn at opening ceremonies, closing ceremonies, and medal ceremonies.
-
You will get an accreditation badge when you arrive at Games. This badge gives you access to your accommodations, the food venue, competition venues, transportation, and ceremonies and special events. It is important that you keep your Games accreditation with you at all times!
Lost Accreditation?
If you lose your accreditation badge, please talk to your coach, manager, or Chef de Mission. They will take you to the accreditation centre to get a new badge.
